Key Takeaways
Introduction
Most apartment listings tell you about square footage and amenities. They rarely tell you what daily life actually feels like. Everything in this post comes from real activity on our community platform, powered by Cobu. With 89% of our residents that use our community platform actively participating each month, 19 interest groups, roughly 80 events this past year, and more than 2,130 community comments, Dream Asheville Exchange at 105 Exchange Circle has 89% monthly participation, 19 interest groups, and 2,130+ resident comments in the past year. Here is what that looks like from the inside.
Life Inside Dream Asheville Exchange: What Residents Actually Do Here
Our residents share sourdough starters with each other. A resident recently posted offering to walk dogs for any neighbor who needed help. A videographer on-site offered free portfolio video sessions for families and pets. When the government shutdown affected local families, one resident set up a donation box in the building and posted about it on the community feed. These are not things we orchestrate. They happen because people here know each other.
New residents introduce themselves on the feed and get plugged in fast. One newcomer who moved from St. Louis for a professor position posted about looking forward to game nights and arcades in the area. Another reached out for cat care recommendations before they had even finished unpacking. A couple who have lived here for seven years are still actively sharing restaurant tips and jumping into conversations. Of the 2,130 total comments this past year, 905 came through general chat, 364 through the resident marketplace, and 78 through interest group discussions.
The Events and Social Scene
We hosted roughly 80 events this past year, with a wide of variety of experiences. The AVL Tourist Baseball Game was one of our biggest, with 30 RSVPs and residents carpooling to the ballpark together. A Thousand Love Books Event brought 17 RSVPs. Matcha and Flowers brought 14 RSVPs for Valentine's Day. Bingo Night is a consistent draw at 14 RSVPs per session, and we had an Ice Cream Golf Cart on a warm afternoon.
Food trucks rotate through weekly featuring Bell Boy Seafood, Sunrise Eats, Cactus Rainbow, Smokee Pizza, and Faithful Flames BBQ. We also run Morning Coffee and Pastries, Mid Week Mix and Mingles with live acoustic music by the pool, a Health and Wellness Fair, and seasonal events like Trunk or Treat. The Silent Book Club, which was improvised when weather postponed another event, is a good example of how our residents adapt and still come together.
What Residents Talk About Every Day
Generosity is the dominant thread on our community feed. The PA school graduate offering dog walks. Sourdough starter shared with anyone interested. A donation box organized during the government shutdown. A videographer offering free sessions. People here offer help before being asked.
Our marketplace generated 364 comments this year. A medical student listed furniture at low prices. Plant babies go for $2. One resident sold homemade churro cheesecakes. A 1996 Jeep Cherokee was listed. A neighbor with a photography studio offered a Mother's Day photoshoot package. It is a small local economy among people who actually know each other.
Residents constantly trade recommendations for the Asheville area on the feed. Nine Mile restaurant comes up alot. Beer City Crossfit, BARRE3, and Aroma Yoga have their fans. Pets are a huge connector too - the Dog Group and Cats! are among our most active groups, and new residents ask for vet recommendations almost immediately after introducing themselves.
Interest Groups
We have 19 active groups. The Foodie Group leads with 54 members, followed by Book Club/Small Group (42 members), Dog Group (40 members), and Cats! (37 members). The Tabletop RPG and Board Games group (23 members) and Artist Collective (20 members) represent the creative side. The Tasting Club (19 members), Recommendations (16 members), The Sports Syndicate (13 members), Jam Sessions (12 members), Hiking and Outdoors (11 members), and Crafting Group (11 members) round things out. Most residents find at least one group that fits, and many participate in several.
The Neighborhood Through Residents' Eyes
We are at 105 Exchange Circle in Asheville's 28806 zip code, with easy access to both the city center and the surrounding mountains. The local library gets regular mentions for its events. AVL Tourist baseball games are popular and we organized a group outing there. Barre3, a recently opened fitness studio, has generated buzz. Our weekly food trucks bring Asheville's mobile food scene right to our door. The Hiking and Outdoors group and a Landscape Photography interest group reflect the outdoor lifestyle that some of our residents gravitate toward. Practical questions like how to register an out-of-state car in North Carolina get answered quickly by neighbors who have been through it.
Is Dream Asheville Exchange Worth It?
High monthly active participation. Roughly 80 events. 19 interest groups. Over 2,130 comments. Residents who have been here seven years and are still engaged on the feed. Newcomers who post an introduction and get a flood of recommendations within hours. A floor plan shows you the unit. It doesn’t show you the people. In this Asheville community, residents organize events, share resources, and connect daily so you’re not moving in alone, you’re joining a neighborhood.
The kind where someone shares sourdough starter, a grad student walks your dog, and your neighbor sells you a churro cheesecake on a Tuesday night.
